Public Talks

I can present a History talk on a range of fascinating subjects for your organisation. I have delivered numerous such talks over the last two decades, including at various local history and genealogy society meetings around southeast Queensland.

I have also presented talks at events such as Brisbane Open House (‘The Hanging at the Windmill’), Royal Historical Society of Queensland seminars (‘Swinging Opinions: The Path to Abolition in Queensland’ and ‘The Last Morning’), and a Brisbane History Group seminar (‘The Hangman of Queensland’).

I also initiated the innovative ‘History Among the Graves‘ programme of outdoor Public History talks in the South Brisbane Cemetery, and have made several presentations there.

Subject matter can be tailored to your requirement, but my specialist subjects include:

  • Cemetery History
  • Prisons History
  • Capital punishment in Queensland
  • The Hangmen of Queensland
  • Headstone Symbolism
  • Southside Brisbane Suburban History

Please do get in touch with me if you are interested in organising a public talk.
